Touma Kamiyama was born from a wealthy family and raised by his father and grandfather.[1] When he was nine, Touma was approached by a mysterious girl named Luna, who unbeknownst to him, had chosen Touma to become a bridge between Earth and Wonder World. It was during his childhood where he befriended Kento Fukamiya, who had encouraged Touma to become a novelist. Together, the three would read books together and inspired Touma's love for storytelling.

One day after storming off from an argument with Luna, Touma was caught in the crossfire between the Sword of Logos and the Megid. As Luna is sucked into a vortex, Touma promised to find and save her one day. Nearby, Daichi Kamijo had fought Hayato Fukamiya and rushed to protect Touma. Telling him to steel his resolve to find hope, Kamijo unleashes a large attack that eliminated the Shimi, and leaving the Brave Dragon Wonder Ride Book behind in Touma's hands. Waking up, Touma lost a majority of his childhood memories.

One day as Touma Kamiyama went out to deliver a book to a young reader, the city became under attack by the Golem Megid. Proclaiming that books intend to bring people happiness, Kaenken Rekka responded to him and granted him its power, allowing Touma to transform into Kamen Rider Saber. After his first battle, Touma is approached by Kamen Rider Blades, Rintaro Shindo, who brings him to the Northern Base of the Sword of Logos to meet Sophia and is introduced about the organization as well as its warriors, the Kamen Riders. He is reunited with his old friend Kento Fukamiya, who operates as Kamen Rider Espada.

As Touma and Rintaro are out on assignment, they are assisted with Kamen Rider Buster, Ryo Ogami, who helps them with the Hanzaki Megid. In the midst of victory, the duo are attacked by Kamen Rider Calibur, a dark warrior that Touma recognizes from his childhood. However, Kento began to act erratic in Calibur's presence, opting not to reveal anything to Touma until he was ready. During an encounter with Storious, Touma's powers were sealed and entrusts the safety of the city to Kamen Rider Kenzan, Ren Akamichi. Through the assistance of Tetsuo Daishinji, Touma located the entrance of Avalon.

Upon arriving at Avalon, he is granted the King of Arthur Wonder Ride Book and a large blank book by a mysterious figure as part of a test. As he continues to grow stronger, Touma forms a pact with Rintaro and Kento to stick with each other through the end. While the three battled Calibur together, Touma discovers the man behind the mask was Daichi Kamijo, the previous Saber who saved him fifteen years ago. Furthermore, he discovered that before Kamijo took on the mantle, it was previously held by Kento's father, Hayato Fukamiya. Touma began to feel distant from Kento because of the revelation.
